NEW DELHI: The central government has disbursed around Rs 11,000 crore among 31 million farmers in the PM KISAN scheme so far. PM KISAN CEO Vivek Agrawal told ET that the government is giving both first and the second instalment of Rs 2000 each simultaneously to the farmers.
“Farmers are getting second scheme only after the first instalment and verification of Aadhar Card number. The first instalment was distributed on the basis of Aadhar enrolment only. For second instalment, states have to re verify the data of first tranche and add Aadhar number” he said.
Out of 31 million beneficiaries, 21 million have received the second instalment also. The government has registered data of 47.6 million farmers who were enrolled before the code of conduct came into force.
“The pace has slowed down a bit due to elections. States ate not sending us verified data at the expected pace as their officers are busy conducting polls. After elections, the process will again speed up,” he said.
According to sources, farmers of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttrakhand, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have received the second instalment.
“But Punjab government, which was proactive in sending data for the first instalment has lagged in verifying the data for second instalment,” Agrawal said.
